Here’s a classic and simple Pound Cake recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or a Bundt pan.

2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. Cream the butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes) using a hand mixer or stand mixer.

4. Add eggs one at a time: Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is fully incorporated before adding the next. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

5. Add the extracts: Mix in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using).

6. Alternate dry ingredients and milk: With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk in two parts. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

7. Pour the batter: Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

8. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, and the top is golden brown.

9. Cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional: You can dust the cake with powdered sugar, or drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
